Computer Freeze Up – Causes And Cure

Usually at the most inopportune moment something goes wrong and we can suffer a computer freeze up. It is extremely frustrating and just to make thinks worse, it seems like it happens when we have a lot of unsaved work.

So what is going on with these unpredictable machines and what can we do about it?

There really are a lot of things to go wrong in a computer. The hardware is now very reliable but software still causes a lot of problems, by accident and also by evil intent.

It’s not that the machine has it in for you but if you are connected to the internet it is very easy to get nasty programs onto your machine by mistake. These viruses, Trojans, spyware and other malicious programs can cause havoc on your machine.

Viruses and the rest are not the only story. Often a computer just needs a good spring cleaning of the software. Over time the operating systems registry starts to get mixed up.

The registry is a database that keeps track of what is going on in your machine and Windows uses it all the time, updating and changing information depending on what programs you install or use.

Unfortunately Microsoft didn’t do a very good job of keeping the registry free of errors. Over time these errors can build up and sooner or later result in slowing down the PC, causing computer freeze up or even unwanted reboots.

Cleaning the registry to make things right again is possible but doing it yourself is only recommended if you have extensive computer knowledge. It is in fact a far better idea to use a registry cleaning software package to do the job for you.

Thankfully there are several good programs that are available and the better ones also can scan your system to remove malware, spyware, Trojans and Viruses.

Another advantage of these programs over normal anti virus software is that they often can repair the damage done by a virus. Anti virus programs often just remove the offending code but do nothing to get your system back and running normally again.

If you are having problems with a slow computer, freeze up or erratic behavior then you would be well advised to give your machine a good software cleanup to get it working smoothly once again.
